Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up for an expedition?

Browse our expeditions, select one that interests you, and click 'Join Expedition'. Follow the prompts to complete your registration and payment.

What's included in the expedition cost?

Each expedition lists what's included in its description. Typically, this covers guides, accommodation, and some meals. Flights and personal expenses are usually not included.

What's the cancellation policy?

Cancellation policies vary by expedition and are set by the expedition leader. Please review the specific cancellation policy before booking.

What should I pack?

Each expedition has a recommended packing list. You'll receive this information after booking, and it's tailored to the specific requirements of your adventure.

How fit do I need to be?

Expeditions have different difficulty levels. Check the fitness requirements in the expedition details, and when in doubt, contact the expedition leader for more information.

Can I join alone?

Absolutely! Many of our travelers join expeditions solo. It's a great way to meet like-minded adventurers.

How do I become an expedition leader?

We're always looking for experienced adventurers to lead expeditions. Visit our Become a Leader page to learn more about the application process.

What safety measures are in place?

All expeditions must meet our safety standards, which include first aid training for leaders, emergency plans, and risk assessments.

Does We Go Yonder provide insurance or accept liability?

No — We Go Yonder is a platform connecting travelers with leaders and boat owners. We don't provide travel insurance or accept legal liability for expeditions or tours booked through the site. Always arrange your own travel insurance and review each listing's requirements.

What is 'direct booking' on We Go Yonder?

Direct booking refers to our Tours — fixed-itinerary adventures that are professionally organised with guaranteed departures. You book these directly, with no application process, unlike community-created expeditions.

What's the difference between Tours and Expeditions?

Tours are fixed itinerary adventures — professionally organised with fixed itineraries, guaranteed departures, and direct booking. Expeditions are target destination adventures created by members of We Go Yonder, with a more personal application and selection process.

Do all expeditions cost money?

Tours have a fixed price. Expeditions created by community leaders can be free or set a daily contribution amount — check each listing, or ask the leader.

How is We Go Yonder different from a regular travel booking site?

Unlike a typical booking site, We Go Yonder gives you two paths to adventure: apply to join a trip led by a fellow explorer, or book a fixed-itinerary tour directly. Either way, you get real trips vetted for real adventurers — not another anonymous OTA listing.
